How do you like this preface for my novel?
I heard the faint beeping of the heart monitor next to me getting closer. I breathed in some fresh air giving me life and energy enough to open my eyes. The first thing I saw was a tropical calendar on the wall in front of me. It said that the month was July of 2030.
“2030?” The words escaped my lips. My voice seemed deeper and more womanly. “But it’s only 2028.” I sighed, then the shock hit me. “Where am I?” I sat up. I examined the room.
It was your basic hospital room with gadgets that no one understood. There was that uncomfortable hospital bed and that door with the clipboard on it. “In the hospital?” I crinkled my eyebrows. “But, I’m not hurt.”
I rubbed my eyes, then drew my hands away. The skin on my right hand was pale and soft, like I hadn’t seen the sun in years.
I had to blink a couple of times before I got to the left hand. The fluorescent lighting burned them.
I let out a gasp. My entire hand was metal.
In fact, my entire arm was metal. I looked at my left leg too. Metal.
I let out a small scream. I turned to the bedside table and snatched up the mirror on it. I held the mirror to my face. The left side of my face was cold, hard metal. The left eye was just a glowing red rectangle.
“I’m dreaming! That’s it! I’m just dreaming!” I laughed nervously as I sunk back down into the bed.
“No, you’re not,” A woman walked briskly into the room with a clipboard. “You’re the latest government project.”
I shook my head, unbelieving.
“You are no longer Delia McConnell, you are Cybernet’s Prototype A.”
“Prototype what?”
“Prototype A,” She replied. ” Now get on your feet, we need to get you to the FBI. We need to tell President Adler that the cyborg’s awake.”
“Cyborg? FBI?” I followed the woman without getting any answers out of her.

I liked it, but it’s a bit like the one tv show Bionic Woman.
